Users of Windows or Apple Mac OS systems using L2TP over IPSec can manually adjust the routing table on their local system so that only traffic for the TU Wien Networks is sent via the tunnel interface.

The commands here differ depending on the operating system and client software. This adjustment is necessary because with these solutions, all data traffic is routed via the VPN connection as standard.

There is a tool of TU.it for Windows where two profiles are set up, one using the reduced data traffic.
It can be found at: https://service.it.tuwien.ac.at/swsupport/tools/tuvpn/index.html

Linux users with open connect can choose from the same profiles as provided with AnyConnect. The same routes from the VPN server can be put in place.

Manual routing settings

TU Wien Networks: 128.130.0.0/15, 192.35.240.0/24, 193.170.72.0/21

Routing settings for IPv6: 2001:629::/32
