Method: there are 2 methods; both have advantages and disadvantages

Table of Contents

Method 1: Recording via Power Point Add-In

(plus)(minus)
  • Recording during presentation in Powerpoint
  • Recording with camera and/or mouse cursor possible
  • no single-slide recording possible
  • subsequent editing takes getting used to
  • only PowerPoint files supported

Instructions

  1. Install Camtasia with default settings (PowerPoint Add-in is installed with the installation)
  2. Open slide in PowerPoint and open tab "Add-Ins"
  3. Start recording by pressing the round red button (optional: activation of the cursor or your own webcam)
  4. Slide loads in full screen, start recording via the control on the bottom right
  5. Lecture as usual, discuss slides one after the other
  6. Press ESC key and click "Stop recording" in the dialog
  7. Save recording file (*.trec)
  8. Normally, it is now necessary to edit the recording, so select "Edit your recording" and confirm with "OK
  9. Camtasia starts and the previously saved recording appears in the Clip Window
  10. Drag saved selection to track 1
  11. Select unnecessary audio sequences using the "play markers" and click on "cut" (scissors symbol) (video instructions also available here)
  12. Video is now ready, click on "Share" in the upper right corner and save as "Local File" with the option "Only MP4 (up to 720p)"
  13. After processing, check the finished video (adapt it if necessary) and upload it to TUpeerTube and finally make it available to students in the TUWEL course. Video instructions can be found here.
