Madrid Staff Week
From 26 to 29 February, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) invited EULiST and overseas partners to an International Staff Week. The emphasis was put on getting to know URJC. TU Wien's 15-person delegation was treated to three campus visits, all located outside the city of Madrid.
Highlights were the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Aranjuez, the aeronautic hangar, and the sports facilities in Fuenlabrada. Nonetheless, the representative halls at Mostoles and Aranjuez were no less impressive. Considering the focus laid on team building activities and showcasing the host university, time for formal meetings was in short supply. Still, colleagues expressed their gratitude for an opportunity to engage with their counterparts. Within the fast-paced programme, a few additional ad-hoc meetings were organised to tackle open questions leftover from initial meetings. A communication plan presented by URJC was heavily discussed by participants. Introductions by URJC's overseas partners gave a glimpse into universities in the Americas, Africa, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The hosts certainly spared no effort in exhibiting Madrid and its cultural features. This culminated in a tour through Madrid's prestigious Museo del Prado, followed by a dinner accompanied by a string quintet from URJC's own orchestra. Furthermore, URJC showed its alliance-leading capabilities in creating EULiST branded merchandise. Finally, on behalf of TU Wien's delegation, we would like to thank URJC's organising team (Juan Manuel, Elena, and Paloma, just to name a few) for a wonderful week.

Student Board Meeting LUT
After a meeting in Madrid in parallel with Staff Week proved not viable, the student board sought an alternative host. Lappeenranta University of Technology kindly offered to accommodate student representatives. Eventually, 14 delegates from eight member universities met from 22 to 24 February. They discussed a range of topics, including the Student Conference, The road map and PR-related matters. Arguably, the most important decision taken was to define the pronunciation of EULiST. "Youlist" won decisively over "e-u-list".
Actually, icy roads and paths proved to be the toughest obstacle faced during the meeting. Otherwise, participants were treated to a wonderful room overlooking the snowy LUT campus. On one occasion, city representatives invited the student board for a reception in the town hall, where the benefits of EULiST for Lappeenranta were discussed. Additionally, a glimpse into Finnish student culture formed an integral part of the programme. This included the Finnish equivalents of TU Wien's Fachschaften, which were carefully inspected by the Austrian delegates. Naturally, a visit to Finland wouldn't be complete without some time at the sauna. This particular one was beautifully located by Lake Saimaa, Europe's fourth biggest natural lake.
The TU Wien delegation, formed by Simon, Ramon, and Gregor, expresses their gratitude to LUT and our colleagues Niilo and Robin, who did a fantastic job hosting us and putting up an amazing programme.
