TUwlan Access authorization
- For employees the network account (username@tuwien.ac.at) serves as access authorization.
- For students, the student account (eXXXXXXX@student.tuwien.ac.at) serves as access authorization.
- Other accounts (username@mobil.tuwien.ac.at) can be applied for via our Online Account Management. (No eduroam authorization!)
Account approvers can use our Online Account Management:
- set up a guest account (e.g. for visiting professors or employees of external companies) in the form username@mobil.tuwien.ac.at with an unchangeable username/password combination for a maximum period of 28 days. This account is active immediately.
(No eduroam authorization!) - Create conference accounts of the form YYYYYnnn@conference.tuwien.ac.at (for “YYYYY”, select a prefix with a maximum of five digits, preferably a conference abbreviation). The first time you create an account, 50 users are created. The number of accounts can then be increased in steps of 50 to a maximum of 999. A start and end date (max. one month) can be selected.
(No eduroam authorization!)
TUwlan Access
For students, staff, visiting professors with a guest account and conference participants with a conference account, access to the encrypted (tap-proof) TUnet Wi-Fi is primarily provided via the SSID “tunet”.
If for some reason the configuration is not successful, the “open” WLAN with the SSID “tunetguest” is available as a fallback option. Here, authentication is carried out securely via SSL (via HTTPS web portal), but all data traffic remains unencrypted. For sensitive data, you must therefore ensure secure transmission yourself (ssh, ssl, VPN, etc.)!
